What Makes The Kamigawa Collector Booster Box So Popular?
The Kamigawa Collector Booster Box contains 12-packs with each pack containing 15 of the hottest and most desirable cards in the set. So in a full box, you’ll receive 180 cards and just about all of them will be the best of the best!
Collector Booster Boxes, since they were first introduced with the Throne of Eldraine set back in 2019, have been all the rage when it comes to collecting Magic cards.
The boxes are small when it comes to the number of packs, big when it comes to the price tag and HUGE when it comes to finding the rarest and most expensive cards from the set. If you take your time opening a Collector Booster Box, it’s probably the most intense 30-minute Magic pack opening experience you’ll ever have!
Kamigawa Neon Dynasty Collector Booster Box packs have a much higher average number of rare cards as you’ll receive 4-5 Rare or Mythic Rare cards in every pack. That’s considerably better than Draft booster packs that only have 1 Rare (or Mythic) in every pack.
And how about special cards ONLY found in the Kamigawa Collector Booster Box? There are definitely some great cards in Collector Boosters that you won’t find in any other Kamigawa product including foil etched cards, extended art cards, showcase samurai or ninja cards, foil Ukiyo-e Lands, and the very special neon ink card treatment.
These packs are simply loaded!
Is The Kamigawa Collector Booster Box Worth Buying?
At Magic Card Investor we keep track of Magic Booster Box prices for just about every box ever made by Wizards of the Coast. That includes the Kamigawa booster boxes. It takes a lot of work, but the information we receive from eBay sales is invaluable and gives you a good idea on trends and whether certain boxes are worth buying (or selling.)
As you’ll see below, the Kamigawa Collector Booster Box has been selling fairly well around the average price of $209.68 for some time now. Prices are always fluctuating based on the market conditions but this is about the average you can expect to pay (shipping included.)
Is The Kamigawa Collector Booster Box A Good Long Term Investment?
I think long term, a sealed (unopened) Kamigawa Neon Dynasty Collector Booster Box is a good investment. Average price increases are typically in the 5-10% range with percentage increases getting higher the older the booster box.
So in other words you might expect prices to increase by 5-10% annually for the next few years but 10-20 years from now that percentage may increase.
It’s rare to lose money when Investing in sealed booster boxes over a long period of time. If you’re looking to flip for quick cash, booster boxes are probably not the way to go unless you got them cheap. But over many years, booster boxes always tend to gain in value.
Scarcity plays a huge role in booster box prices. The more scarce the booster box, the better the chances the price will increase over time.
For Collector Booster Boxes like Kamigawa Neon Dynasty, there are far fewer of these on the market as Wizards/Hasbro simply does not print large quantities.
So it’s scarce from the get-go and over time we’ll probably see quantities on the open market dwindle. That’s a recipe for a good investment.
